Ground fault outlet

Ground fault outlets, which also go under the name GFCI (ground fault circuit Interrupter) outlets, are integral to protecting our homes from electrical mishaps. These special outlets are made to help keep us from getting shocked, because if they sense any unexpected differences in the amount of electricity rushing through them, they quickly "switch off" the power.

Ground fault plugs are such a necessity in people’s homes that they can save lives and keep people from getting seriously injured. If somebody touches accidentally an alive wire or some faulty device, they can get a dangerous electric shock. But just as quickly, with a ground fault circuit interrupter in use, the electricity is cut off, and the danger greatly reduced.

The Role of Ground Fault Outlets in Home Safety

Anita GFCI Socket All modern homes of today have GFCI (Ground fault Circuit Interrupter) protection in their Volta circuits. They're generally placed where they might get wet, like kitchens or bathrooms, or even outside outlets. Water conducts electricity, so if an electrical product comes into contact with water, you are in a dangerous situation. Ground fault circuit interrupter outlets also prevent electric shocks in these locations by sensing the electric current and shutting off if it detects any unusual activity.

How ground fault outlets work Ground fault Others interrupts are designed to constantly monitor the flow of electricity through a circuit. There is a sensor in them that can sense the tiniest deviation in the current. If the outlet feels electricity moving along an unintended path — say through water or a person’s body — it will trip fast and shut down to prevent any harm.
